Paddling in rain without thunder/lightning is safe. Waiting out heavy rain/thunder/ lightning along the river bank is your best course of action. The best practice is to take shelter among a cluster of trees that are around the same height. If a storm appears while on the river, drag boats at least 10 feet onto the river bank and take shelter along the bank.We reserves the right to cancel any and all trips due to severe inclement weather or river conditions.We suggests that at least one person per group have a cell phone with them while on the river.Paddle The River, LLC is not responsible for any lost or stolen possessions. The Cape Winelands town of Franschhoek celebrates its French roots with Bastille Day on the 14th of July. Evenings at the Labia, Artscape or Fugard theatres are a treat and throughout the month of July the Baxter Theatre in Rondebosch hosts a comedy festival, called the Funny Festival. In rebellion against the cold weather restaurants across the city turn cozy with roaring fireplaces at night with live music offerings to warm those cold bones. On rainy days visits to the Two Oceans Aquarium, Zeitz Mocaa and the Cape Town Comedy Club in the V&A Waterfront make for a great day out, as do craft beer tastings in Newlands or wine tastings in the Cape Winelands and Constantia.
